I love the mornings. Really early in the morning is set aside for Yoga, walking the dog, meditating, going to the gym or creeping around the house as quiet as I can getting jobs done. In the mid-morning I power through my to do list, I have great ideas, get inspiration and I can type really fast (especially after my morning coffee!).
Many people are not ‘morning people’ and fire up at night to get their best work done. Even if you are not that enthusiastic about the mornings there are 3 things you can do to set yourself up for a productive day.
- Move your body. While I am not totally convinced by the #7 Minute Workout but something is better than nothing and according to the converts it’s short enough that it won’t impact the rest of your morning routine and long enough to shake off any residual sluggishness from the night before such as that extra glass of wine! There’s a 7-minute workout app and the routine works all major muscle groups with 12 total exercises. Or you can do 10 salutes to the sun.
- Pick three things you are going to do today. Write them down or tick them off in your mind. Visualise when and how you are going to do them and how great you will feel when they are completed. Make the hardest task of the day the first one.
- Clear your mind. Get rid of the things that will not serve you well today (words from my Yoga teacher). No regrets, no looking backwards. Focus on what you are going to achieve today.
And only today are you allowed to say, I’ll start tomorrow!
