There will never be a day when you cross all the to do’s off your list and then say “Great, that’s all done now it’s time to start a business!”
There are always things to do, events to get through, significant milestones to pass, but in the end they are all sources of procrastination.
Here are the excuses I’ve heard so far this year:
I’ll start my business…
- “After Christmas, nothing happens over the holidays”
- “It will have to be after Easter, where has the start of the year gone?”
- “I’ll just wait for the kids to settle into school”
- “When I have some more time, life is so busy”
- “When I get a bit more experience”
- “When I have some more money saved”
- “When I have a better business idea”
- “After my baby is sleeping through the night”
- “When I write a business plan”
- “When I get a pay rise”
These are all excuses not reasons. There are many perfectly valid reasons why now might not be the perfect time to start your own business but this will always be the case!
If you truly want to start a business you will schedule time and energy to make it happen. Sometime there will be a point when you’ll need to decide that today is the day.
The earlier you give it a go, the less there is to lose. And you can work towards starting the business you have always wanted to in a safe environment alongside people who are just ‘doing it’ too.
