Christmas is four weeks away – so now is the time for you to be productive – starting with the space around you.
Whether you work your small business from a home office, shared space, or the local cafe – here are some things you can do to improve your health, creativity and productivity:
1. Your monitor / laptop should be at eye level – this can be tricky in cafe’s but look for a local with high benches and stools
2. Stand when you can – they say sitting is the new smoking – make sure you move around. As a fan of the egg timer – set it for every 20m minutes so you can remember to move. Also great for your eyes. Practice some desk yoga moves.
3. Have water close by so you remember to drink it. If you feel thirsty – it’s too late!
4. Don’t check your inbox for the first hour of the day. I know this is hard for many of you. Emails or any screen time that involves you responding or thinking of a response moves you away from creative thinking into critical thinking. The first part of the day is best spent meditating or brainstorming (preferably both!)
5. Get outside daily. Natural light synchronises the brain and the body and vitamin D is good for us.
6. Put your daily schedule / list of things to do – up in front of you to keep you on track. make sure you allocate times for each priority and eat the frog first!
7. Move away from your desk to eat your lunch and practice mindful eating. You will enjoy every bite more!
