As I was mesmerised by the ‘Supermoon’ dominating the sky last night I was reminded about how important it is to stop and take notice of the world around you. Every time there is a full moon my yoga teacher insists we salute the moon rather than the sun. Her conviction to her craft is admirable and reminds me why I have chosen her to guide me.
When was the last time you took time to notice what is going on outside your business? Working on your business not just in it. As we go about our day to day activities fitting in business, life, family and community we can sometimes forget to look up and take notice of opportunities that could be good for building business.
If we are consistently focussed on the doing rather than the planning, we inadvertently create income peaks and troughs. While working with current orders or customers we also need to make sure we have new ones in the pipeline. New customers don’t fall out of the sky – we have to go and find them; and old customers won’t come back unless you remind them why they should. Use the full moon as your monthly sign to take stock of your business and make a commitment to at least one activity that will grow it. Oh and take time to enjoy the moon while you’re at it!
