Today, February 12, 202, as per the lunisolar calendars traditional in many Asian countries including China, Vietnam, and South Korea is the start of the Lunar New Year, the year of the Metal Ox.
The holiday is a celebration of new beginnings, reunion dinners with loved ones, and Spring Festival celebrations in China. This year introduces the Year of the Metal Ox, marking the end of the Year of the Metal Rat.
While I am not a big believer in all things zodiac, I do love the idea of picking and choosing any good news that may arise out of the predictions. And this year I think we all need a reason to be optimistic, especially as small business owners.
With the 2020 Rat predictions turning out to be as unfortunate as the year turned out to be – is there hope for this Year of the Ox to be lucky?
There is some good news from the astrologers, but of course, it depends on your compatibility with the ox as well.
The theme of 2021’s lunar year is to “build, build, build,” and follow through on whatever projects you began in the Rat year. The message from the ox is hard work, duty, discipline to stick to routines and shy away from starting any new wild ideas. Which is very different from what we have had to do last year!
As 2021 is also a metal year – one of the five Taoist elements of fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. From a feng shui perspective, the metal environment should be clean, pristine, pared-down, and shiny like metal.
Therefore if you want to best prepare your home, business, or office for the Year of the Metal Ox clean your space, reduce clutter (physical and emotional), and maintain tidiness all year round. You should also focus at home on your bedroom as hard-working oxen do best after peaceful sleep!
So work hard, stay drama free, tidy up and sleep well – lunar horoscope aside – all of these are great ways to run your business and restart the year (again!)
