According to research there is no correlation between success and hours worked! In todays business environment you don’t necessarily use most of your time to make products – you make decisions. How to market, how to sell, how to be creative.
To paraphrase #Seth Godin (from his book Small Is the New Big): Richard Branson does not have more hours than you, he is not smarter than you either.
He is successful because he was prepared for the hard work. The hard mental work that comes from developing and starting a business.
Seth says “Hard work is about risk. It begins when you deal with the things you’d rather not deal with: dear of failure, fear of standing out, fear of rejection. Hard work is about training yourself to leap over this barrier, tunnel under that barrier, drive through the other barrier, and, after you’ve done that, do it again the next day.”
So start doing what you already know is going to work and start making decisions.
A decision is better than no decision! Do it and deal with the consequences.
“The cost of being wrong is less than the cost of doing nothing.” – Seth Godin (Poke the Box)
