People often ask me how I do it all: business, kids, partner, and an unwavering commitment to yoga and meditation.
There is no secret. We all have 24 hours in a day and we all make choices on what we do with those hours.
One of the simplest ways to manage your time is to first work out what you spend your time on – and without guessing. For one week take note of everything you do in every 15 minute slot. If it’s an irregular week go for a second. Don’t cheat! If you need a format for recording your time you can email me.
After you have journalised your time you can then make decisions on what you can re-arrange and what can go altogether. What are you investing your time in that gives you no joy, no value and you don’t have to do (eg. TV)? And your energy vampires (the people who suck you dry and give you nothing in return). These can go first. What are you doubling up on that is unnecessary eg. grocery shopping? Where can you multi-task eg. exercise and TV. Where can you create time savers? eg. cooking enough for two meals and freezing a batch for later.
You cannot create more time, but you can manage time. It’s time to remove any self-sabotage you have around “not having enough time,” or today not being “the right time” to start a business or manage your current business properly. It starts with getting rid of the things you don’t need in your life.
