Step One: Setting Up
If you have time check out these sites for tips and tricks:
Copyblogger – Great website to learn about blogging and copywriting.
Pro Blogger – A great site to learn general tips and ideas for running an effective blog.
Step Two: Getting started
You can start the 21 Day Challenge by simply putting your blogs into a word processing file and save them to upload later.
Or you can start your blog challenge using the inbuilt blog on your web page or use a blogging platform like WordPress, Blogger or Tumblr. These are designed for you to be able to easily create content and manage your blog. These are easy to create blogs and for people to share and you can host them on your website (not as a sub domain)
Eg. The self-hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.org, not.com) as you can easily install WordPress on your own domain. It doesn’t matter if your main website is not a WordPress site, you can install WordPress on a sub-folder on your site and use it separate from your main site, though visitors will see it as a single website. Sound confusing? Check out this article from WordPress on the subject.
Step Three – Write a List of Topics:
- Create a list of keywords and topics associated with your business / industry. Here’s a beginners guide to keyword research from Moz.
- Think of all the questions your customers have asked you and write a blog post answering each one
Then we’ll be set to start on Monday!
