Last week I got the chance to do one of my favourite things as a business coach – to see (and taste) the fruits of a labour of business love. I had the most delicious organic, vegan meal I have ever had – truly.
I first met Lindy in 2008 when she was going through a dark time in her life. But she had a vision and was a passionate and determined, if not reluctant, entrepreneur. Fast forward to 2013 and the current version of Satori Wholefoods was born. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Satori-Organics-Wholefoods-and-Juice-Bar/330491853708544
As well as a great product I feel Lindy’s success is due to a number of entrepreneurial characteristics she has: passion, patience, and persistence.
To survive and thrive in business you need to be passionate about what you are doing or what you aim to achieve. Passion gets you up in the morning, sees you through the bad days and makes you sing on the good ones. Lindy is passionate about good food and sharing her knowledge with others. She is also very talented (that helps!).
Business takes longer and costs more than you will ever predict. People and businesses you rely on may not have the same hurry sickness as you for your business so inevitably there will be delays. Plan for contingencies and don’t be disappointed when things don’t go to plan. Change your course, but stick with your vision. Lindy has had a few iterations of her business as she slowly built her brand and reputation. She is happy where she is at the moment with bigger plans on the horizon!
Mention you are in ‘business’ and people will wax lyrical about the challenges and high rates of failure! Resist the negative and surround yourself with people who will support and encourage you. Lindy persisted with her ideas, despite finding a lot of doubters on the way and has created a network of people who share her visions. She continues to grow her network and her business alongside it.
I am so thrilled with the business Lindy has created, proud of her commitment to her vision and excited to have such a great place to eat in Brisbane. Do you have these three entrepreneurial traits?
